To keep the festive spirits going, Sancta Maria was lit up with diyas on the occasion of Diwali, which falls on 5 November 2010. The children were quite enthusiastic to make their own ‘bows and arrows’ and keenly listened to the story of Ramayan. On 3 Nov 2010 the staff of Sancta Maria put up a ‘Ramlila’, depicting the life and adventures of Ram. The ten-headed Ravan, the composed Rama, the defensive Lakshman, the naïve Sita, the chirpy Hanuman… all came alive! Not to forget the children who actually roared with enthusiasm when they saw the staff playing the roles of these legendary epic characters. How could Diwali celebrations conclude without relishing sweets? Children had ‘ladoos’ and departed to their homes. And the conversation about ‘Ramlila’ continued…. Ethan(G 3 ) says, “I want to be the one who killed Ravan, next time!”
