Care and Love

Our first visit to the orphanage is behind us. The ice is broken - and our hearts are richer and warmer by few degrees for sure. 37 children, each with their own story of how they ended up in this orphanage. And 8 of our Sanctamarians who have made us proud today. It was beyond encouraging for me to see our kids interact with the orphans - they gelled into one happy group of kids. The borders and labels and sad stories were erased for couple of hours and all there was was 45 children playing games and enjoying each other's company.
We played numerous games ranging from dodge ball,  "Marco Polo",  "Hit the bell", various games with small and big balls, musical chairs, hoola hoop,...We all sang songs and basically spent a wonderful couple of hours together making everyone's day brighter. Theirs and ours - that is for sure.
Vishal , Ram and Sai Krishna playing dodge ball.
Suvarna, Chethana and Sunshine playing musical chairs with  children.
Marco? Polo! Who will Suvarna catch? :)
Pia and Fatema in charge of the "Hit the bell" game.
Aim and fire! Yessss! Ding, dong :)
What happened? Don't cry baby!
Fatema - so mature and caring!

Catch me if you can! Vishal - our sport star :)
At the end, after Pia handed over the delicious cupcakes she baked for kids, we saw their brand new computer room where our children will be able to teach practical computer usage to the kids. We bid good bye with a promise that we will be back soon. I can only hope that the children of this wonderful place "Care&Love" were as happy as we were with today's day.
Group photo at the end. Lots of smiling faces :)

  2. Deeps, this is a blog of us teachers of Sancta Maria International School, Hyderabad. here, we post what we do, where we go and most importantly, what we feel.
This particular post was about our grade 9 social volunteering projects. This one particularly is headed by their French teacher Urska and their classteacher Sandeep and they visited the orphanage and met with the children who live there. This is just the first step. they will be actually going there regularly to teach the children how to use their new computer room.
