A day with animal friends...

On 7th October morning, just one day before the dusshera break, the entire school went on a field trip to Nehru Zoological Park. It was an hour long journey and our little ones spent time singing songs [on animals] and playing some games inside our cozy school bus.

As soon as Mr. Singh bought the tickets we got into the ‘visitors van’ and thus began the wonderful animal safari. Two huge Tortoises were the first animals we spotted. Our attention was diverted with a sudden roar – a white tiger! Then we saw stags, deer, foxes and wild dogs. After a while we reached a quiet and vast place where the elephants were found roaming. It was a quiet and serene area with huge trees. We had juice and apples over there.

A little further we saw tigers, leopards, jaguars, lions and other wild cats in their own enclosures. One of the most beautiful scenes was the sight of a Giraffe, so tall running around the trees. At the bird sanctuary we saw different birds like parrots, pigeons, white peahens and our national bird, Peacock too. The entry to the world of reptiles was quite exciting. There we saw pythons, iguana, cobras, rat snakes etc.

Towards the end of our wonderful journey we visited the nocturnal animals. Our little Prabhvir and Sharon did get little scared at the beginning. They kept on asking why these animals were kept in dark.

We had our lunch under a huge tree. Children played for a while before getting into the aquarium where we saw beautiful and colourful variety of fish.
While returning from the zoo, children kept on discussing about the animals with their own logical reasoning. Though we could not locate any zebra the trip was indeed a splendid one.
