Importance of water while exercising .

During training sessions we need to be drinking water before, during and after exercise to keep our bodies hydrated through the whole process of our training session.
The importance of water should be at the forefront of your mind in whatever exercise you plan to do. Prevention is better than cure. Don’t attempt to exercise unless you are completely hydrated. If you are on a morning workout start drinking water from waking up. For a lunchtime session drink water throughout the morning and drink all day if you are having an evening workout.
Whatever type of exercise you do, always take a water bottle with you : whether it’s a run or cycle ride or even an aerobics or gym class. Always drink water before and during your workout, but after your workout you may want to drink a solution of one part unsweetened fruit juice to three parts water. You could add also a pinch of sea salt to replace lost minerals. This is the ideal rehydration drink after exercise. This is known as a ‘hypotonic’ drink. Hypotonic means that the drink is more concentrated than your body’s fluids and must be diluted before it can be absorbed. An ‘isotonic’ drink, on the other hand, is a drink that is in balance with your body’s natural fluids. These drinks, while pleasant to drink, will not help to rehydrate your body after exercise as well as a hypotonic drink will.

I hope that I have drawn your attention to the importance of water.

child oriented education?

What is child oriented education?
· Letting the child do whatever he wants to do?
· Teaching what we (adults ) want children to learn in an interesting manner?
· Or taking the middle path?
I think I would like to take the last approach. It will again vary from child to child depending upon the child’s ability to decide for himself. Some may chalk out the entire path for themselves while others may do so with little help from an adult. In most cases perhaps some boundaries (themes/ topics) are laid out by a teacher but the child should have the freedom to decide what all and how he would like to go about doing it. To keep the child focussed the adult's role may be to make him write the expected learning outcomes at the end of the assignment/ project. And facilitate (by questioning to make him gain better clarity of his approach) him in reaching his milestones one by one. By making the child take the onus of his education he will have more sense of responsibility to give his best.

First day at School

I would like to thank all Parents for their faith in Sancta Maria International School and for sharing our belief in education and the way we bring up our children.

For various reasons quite beyond our control, we are unable to complete the school building on schedule. We strongly felt however, that our students must not miss out on their school and their studies.

Hence, Sancta Maria opened its doors for its children on Thursday, June 24, 2010.

Presently, as we have only a few children, we have our school housed in our little cottage inside the campus. We have made it safe, secure and comfortable for our children. By September, we hope to move into our permanent premises. All other infrastructural requirements shall also be fulfilled by then.

The classrooms , as you can see in the previous post are all lookin great !!!
On the 24th, all our little ones planted trees.

Happy Birthday Sir !!

Today as Mr. Shetty celebrates his birthday......................

Birthday Blessings
Instead of counting candles,Or tallying the years,Contemplate your blessings now,As your birthday is here.
Consider special peopleWho love you, and who care,And others who’ve enriched your lifeJust by being there.
Think about the memoriesPassing years can never mar,Experiences great and smallThat have made you who you are.
Another year is a happy gift,So cut your cake, and say,"Instead of counting birthdays,I count blessings every day!"

Profile - Mr. Sajeev Kumar

I am Sajeev Kumar, Visual Art Mentor. I have a professional degree in fine arts [painting] from Kerala University. Soon after my graduation in 1992, I got the opportunity to be in this wonderful field. Since then I have been with children and the learning still continues. I strongly believe that each child is an individual who to be respected. I see one of God’s miracles, but not the pupil, in a child.

Children are the same everywhere. Hence, at Sancta Maria I look forward eagerly in setting up an environment of enthusiasm and confidence… for the children I love.

Rhymes... Rhymes... everywhere....Dr.Seuss Rules!

"I meant what I said,

And I said what I meant,

An elephant is faithful

One Hundred percent!"

Amazingly wonderful lines from 'Horton Hatches the Egg' by Dr.Seuss.

As Mrs.Shetty read out this story today we were awe-struck by the beauty of the language and the humble Horton( the character from the book ).

Imagination ran wild when we saw Horton, the elephant climbing up the tree trunk to hatch an egg!

Thankyou Mrs. Shetty for this great experience!

For those who have not read this book, quickly grab a copy and experience the exciting world of Dr.Seuss!

A Puzzling Puzzle !

Hi, I am back with a puzzling puzzle for the teachers of Sancta Maria.Find out the members of the Sancta Maria family hidden in the following story –

One fine day a bright star from Hyderabad travelled all the way to Victoria Memorial and centered there. From there started a bus that visited the ancient Khajuraho temples, experienced the cold of Kasauli, explored the streets of Raipur, relaxed in the backwaters of Kerela, passed by the Gateway of India and after taking a dip in the Sutlej river came back to Hyderabad. The bus took an International trip to Paris that cost 100 Euros and to Moscow that ran into 100 Roubles. Finally, the bus returned to the beautiful City of Pearls !.....and purchased two sets of Pearls.

Field Trip !....Classroom Beyond Walls

Field trips are informational, exciting and fun for children. Educational field trips include curriculum directed learning and exploratory learning. Field trips support and reinforce learning in the classroom. Sometimes kids do not have an opportunity to experience these things with their own family.

For example : Farm animals is all about the different farm animals, their young ones, sounds they make and why these are so important to us. You can read about farm animals and see pictures but it is not the same as seeing them individualistically on the farm.

Hence, let's go exploring ……!!!!

Love for Learning

We are teachers but we will stay students all our life.
Please meditate on these various sentences:
· Ignorance is a danger, education is a treasure because it makes us enlightened citizens.
· Real life is to grow each day in heart and in intelligence.
· Ignorance is like a prison. Ignorant person is like in a dungeon. He does not hear or see what is around him. Slave of habits, traditions and superstitions, he is imprisoned in the thoughts and feelings around him.

Thank you, Carpe Diem
Celine

Begining School

All of us know that the school construction was unavoidably delayed due to the various political situations for the past one year. Construction permissions were delayed and so many hurdles.

Somehow, we feel that our children must not miss out on school because our building is not complete. So, we shall use our little cottage which till now was serving as our admin office. So, we move out to a temp structure and voila, our school is ready. We are working on getting our classrooms ready. Look out for photographs and updates.

HUM HAIN !
